King West Village

KING WEST VILLAGE AT A GLANCE

Once an industrial zone, King West Village has been reborn as an elegant and dynamic sibling to Queen Street West.

If you love feeling creative vibes, King West Village is a MUST see. Much like Queen West, this neighbourhood definitely has that undefinable cosmopolitan spirit. It offers you everything your inner Bohemian needs, from trendy restaurants and cozy cafes to exhilarating nightclubs and art galleries. The sheer number of  grocery stores will sate your daily appetite, while nearby Chinatown offers fresh, affordable variety to your diet. Few steps away is Trinity Bellwoods, one of the largest parks in the city, featuring a community fitness centre and stunning views of Toronto’s skyline. With a walk score of 95 and transit score of 98, King West Village is as livable as it is interesting.

Why do we love King West Village?

King West Village is where beautiful in every way. Style reigns supreme here: in the retail, in the food, in the architecture and the people who live here.

Describe a Perfect Day in King West Village

Most of our days begin with a freshly brewed coffee. There are a lot of options in King West Village for this daily ritual, but we really like one particular cafe called Balzac’s Coffee Roasters, located on the ground floor of the Toy Factory Lofts. After our pick-me-up, we will go to Lamport Stadium to watch a soccer game. For lunch, we’ll like to visit Merci Mon Ami bistro. You might think we go there just because of its hilarious name, but what’s really awesome about it is that it has daily featured baguettes with variety of customization options. Planning ahead for family birthdays and the holidays, Cadeaux and I Have a Crush On You might be our next destinations during the day. Both stores are conveniently located nearby and have everything from baby clothes to hand-painted glass. If you need a gorgeous greeting card for your friend with an offbeat sense of humour or a piece of antique china with Rob Ford’s confused face on it (and who doesn’t need one of those?), you’ve found your paradise. For dinner, we’ll head to Caffino for some Italian delights, or to Bar Vespa for a couple of draft beers and to catch up with some friends in a more pub-like atmosphere. On the other hand, if we want more of lounge-style experience, we’ll check out Locus 144, which host live music at different times throughout the week. Our perfect evening will end in Toronto’s Entertainment District, which is just few minutes away.

One Thing Someone Looking to Live in West King Village Should Know

This is a great place to live: the downtown core, the lake, the park and the Gardiner expressway – all located within walking distance. Put interesting and creative people on top of it and the cocktail is ready!

SCHOOLS IN WEST KING VILLAGE:

Even though there are no schools in King West Village itself, it just takes a few minutes to get to downtown core where children from all over the city come to study. And hey, did we mention that TTC launched free rides for children age 12 and under? Yay!
